Laguna de Baý: The beauty of yesterday

Wikipinoy

I grew up looking at the horizon of this beautiful creation. Yeah it somehow already destroyed because of several non-biodegradable waste which are product of human selfishness but if you look again, the lake remind us the history, the beauty created by time and shares several stories (kinda creepy, but that how i see things)

As i remember around August of 2013 an announcement about the laguna lakeshore express dike will be constructed, a proposed expressway in the Philippines that will start from the coastal area of Laguna de Bay from Taguig in Metro Manila to Calamba and Los Baños in Laguna. According to my research, the project will involve the construction of a 47-kilometre-long (29 mi), six-lane dike including bridges, pumping stations and ancillary flood gates. The project aims to provide a high-standard highway that will speed up traffic between the southern part of Metro Manila and Laguna, as well as a dike that would mitigate flooding in the western coastal communities along Laguna Lake. The expressway will cost an estimated Php 36.74 billion or US$854.42 million. When constructed, it is expected to ease traffic congestion along Muntinlupa and Calamba area, and to serve as flood control measure for communities on the western shore of Laguna de Bay.

But i will let you ask yourself, do we really need to modernize everything just to make an ease for us? Is it tragic that we need to sacrifice a beautiful lake shores just to reduce the traffic and control flood that in the first place we were the reason why things wrapping around. If we want something to change, we have to start now - reduce consumption of plastic, be environmentally friendly, follow traffic rules and appreciate the beauty of our land, be part of the nature you want to conserve.
