Change The Way You See #Happiness

Sometimes you have to walk alone to find yourself
#SerendipityWalk #Wednesday
I grew up judged by people, like i'm not yet doing anything but they already gave me a title "Bakla", "Gay", "Faggot" and any other thing. I haven't done anything, I even didn't say anything but they judge me as if they know my whole story. I was discriminated to do things like you're not allowed to play basketball or any sports because "Malamya ako", I'm not allowed to stand in line with boys because they feel like i'm not one of them, I'm not allowed to play with them because they thought i prefer playing with girls, I grew up as if i was in a box that i didn't choose to be into. Even my parents do the same thing, they always remind me to be brusko and make my voice deep so i won't sound feminine. I grew up like i have to pretend that i'm one of the guys, i grew up as if living to be like this is a curse, i'm not homosexual but i lived in a world that most people says i'm one of it. I'm amazed by these homosexual people because every time i encounter one of them. I feel their agonies and frustration to move forward. I knew they gone through a lot pain because of bullying but unlike me they were able to smile like no tomorrow, they were able to rejoice as if they didn't go through pain, as if they live like nobody is watching.

I'm just one of those kids who are left alone after the flag ceremonies because no one like to be friend with. I'm one of those teens who went home alone and find online gaming is more sociable than playing personally. I'm one of those young individuals that are socially awkward to talk because i was thinking i might offend them like how other people offend me but ..

"Sometimes we don't have to plan where to go,
we only have to trust the wheel." #BusStories #GoingHome
Then i realized i don't have to explain what I am, I don't have to prove who I am, I don't have to make amendments for people to accept me. Life isn't about finding myself but its about creating myself. Life isn't about getting and having but it's about giving and being. Those presumptions and judgement sounds very terrible, aching and hurtful process but as I go through the pain. I feel numb as if words can't kill me anymore. Words can either build me or break me, it can either wound me or heal me but the most interesting thing about words it can make me question everything, why is the world like this? what make people to do this? do that? Words encouraged me to seek answer from all the things outside my comfort zone which is composed of pain and judgement. I accepted all those discrimination wholeheartedly to change the way i see things because in order to be happy we have to view pain as building block of who we want to be regardless of what other people can see upon us.

And with the advent of advanced imaging technologies coming in, a smartphone like the new Huawei P9 with its 12-megapixel Leica camera and huge 5.2-inch screen makes it possible for me to share motivation for those people who are going through their journey of finding happiness.

Renz Fernandez: Gamer-slash-CPA

Not all students were able to balance their studies and leisure time, but for Renz Fernandez it is more challenging if you maintain your pose as gamer and a student. The 22 years old passed the May 2016 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure Examination.

Most of our parents argued about the negativity of playing computer games, we are sometimes entitled to be lazy and for them video games cuts our interest to go in school. Balancing your academics while playing is actually challenging.

Admittedly an online video game addict, Renz Fernandez said he usually spent an average of 3 to 4 hours at times, 12 hours playing DOTA (Defense of the Ancient) before doing his assignments or reviewing for exams during his days at the Divine World College of Laoag.

Even when he was already reviewing for his board exam, he still had time for DOTA, he said. According to Renz, DOTA served as his stress reliever. He said "video game helped me do school work more enjoyably without feeling drained." He added he found it unhealthy focusing too much on studies. Fernandez, who is fondly called "DOTA boy" by his family and friends. Students need to find balance between studies and leisure. Time management is the key, he said. "Hindi naman maganda kung puro studies, kung puro laro. Dapat sakto lang," he said.

Responsible Gaming is an ideal way to balance your academic life. Back when i was in college, i used to play Defense of the Ancient after doing all my academic requirements, i made games as reward for my self. Yes, Renz is Right - Time Management is the Key, you have to make sure all the things that are needed in school are done. It is very rewarding and stress relieving if you are done with all your assignments, so you can focus more in the game and if you give yourself time to play you can release your self from being stress and focus more in studies.

What can you say about his responsible gaming? If you have a comment, kindly drop it below. Gracias!

Andrea Aslarona: College Made Me A Better Me

Hey there, World! Gjorj here. :)

I would like to share a little something about myself and going to college. When I was high school, I was a very timid girl who just talked less and nobody bothered talking to me because they thought I was suplada. I was scared to talk to people who aren't close to me. The only people I could talk to were my high school friends and my boyfriend. I didn't stood out, and I dread doing reportings and recitation. I also never joined any extracurricular activities that made me stand out. People viewed me as a very shy, soft-spoken girl.

When I was stepping in to college, I told myself that I should make friends, because obviously after high school your friends will go to different colleges and universities. I also told myself to be a different me. Since college is a place to meet new people who don't know you, I should be outgoing and maybe a bit talkative. I wasn't like that at first, I was still trying to break out of my shell. I was lucky that somebody talked to me first because I'm not the kind who talks first. I made a friend, and instantly made more. But I knew it wasn't the clique that I fit in, but I had to make friends so that I won't look like a sore loser. During my first year, I was shakey and still shy but I try to converse with other people.

I remembered that was my first time that I joined one extracurricular activity, and it was the sayawit. I sang in that activity, and never in my life that I let anybody hear me sing. But I mustered the courage and volunteered to take part on the activity. I'm glad that I did that because now, I'm more comfortable singing in public.

I left my old clique and made friends who I was more in common with, in terms of gaming and anime. I did the courage to talk to Aeron Cruz. You could say that we were socially opposite, because he is more talkative and I am just quiet, but here we are years later and are still best friends.

Me and Aeron Cruz
I also improved my skills in speaking up front, just as long that I need to be prepared. I used to stutter a lot but now the stuttering lessened and I could speak straight as long that nervousness doesn't eat me up. I can also speak up unlike before that people could barely hear me.

I even learned to be quite independent during OJT. I always thought that going to apply as an intern is scary and I also worried that a company will not accept me but luckily I got accepted. Though it was not in an HR department, it still deals with people. I got accepted in our city hall at the social welfare department. I got a chance to talk to complete strangers and helping them with anything. In my second OJT, I finally got in to the HR department but only at the recruitment process. I still get to talk to people and the things that I learned there are sure to be useful in the future.

My communication skills are slowly improving and I could just show the world that I am not that timid anymore and I am not quiet anymore. I could tell my ideas and thoughts. But I still got a long way to go. Sure, I wasn't a different me that I told myself on my first day of college, but I am a better me. I guess choosing the course, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Human Resource Development Management, wasn't just a "no choice" course. The course that God destined me to have, is the course that could improve me all throughout my college days.

I hope you enjoyed reading, and I'll write again soon. :)

Ms. Myka Manzano

It was about 100 hours of fun and learning. We took Language Skills Institutes for English Language at Jacobo Z. Gonzalez Memorial School of Arts and Trade (TESDA IV-A). A refreshing experience for a college student like me, a graduating college student. The learning escapade that brought so many motivation and memoirs to keep. Ms. Manzano never let us feel alone and left behind, she is very youthful teacher. Learning with her made us to feel that knowledge is an on going process, a no-ending journey.

She is currently taking Master of Arts in Nursing major in Community Health at Arellano University, A graduate of BS Nursing at De La Salle Lipa, Lipa City, Batangas. She is a high school graduate of Holy Rosary College, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna. She took Learning Skills Institutes for English Language and Bread and Pastry Production NC II at Jacobo Z. Gonzalez Memorial School of Arts and Trade. A Beauty Pageant Enthusiast and I knew how proud she is, after we won the Ms. Universe this year.

She is easy to get along, she likes to talk about things that do have sympathetically appreciable for everyone. She loves to aligned ourselves to our current topic and i really appreciate that she keep on reminding us about pushing ourselves using English as our medium, it is not easy but with her instruction: "We will because we can" Ms. Angela Ong, Ms. Earth 2015.

Ms. Myka Manzano  believes that she still have a lot to learn, and through her masters she get to be inspired by her professors who are great nurse-educator. According to her, taking masters is not as easy like taking undergraduate degree, you have to sacrifice your rest day like Saturday and encountering numerous requirement and research as part of the struggle but at the end "Learning is my priority" she said.

She said for you to always feel young, you should be with the young people. "I'm really feel happy when i see my students having fun while learning and applying their knowledge to their daily lives, i thoroughly believes that Experience is the best teacher, every experience whether bad or good, has a lesson for us. That lesson can help us make good decisions and not do the same mistakes."

Prof. Benedict Suarez

I started my learning with him way back in second semester first year (Philosophy and Logic) Hearing all the views of my colleagues and other students about his way of teaching - kinabahan na ako, kung ano bang aral ang gagawin ko. Over acting nga ako nun, kasi tanong ako ng tanong sa mga higher years. Then i realized, he is indeed a patriot of walking university - i don't usually listen to my professors, staring outside and making some creative thoughts is my hobby, but with him - I realized studying is not just about memorizing but a participation.

Graduate of Masters in Public Administration and AB Political Science in University of Perpetual Help System JONELTA in BiƱan City. A former Student Leader in Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High School. He is the current Faculty Head of our University and Director of Youth Sector at Lapiang Unlad Binan-Youth. He is a professor of several colleges and university here in Binan.

I learned to go and find adventure outside the school, finding learning without boundaries. We went to University of the Philippines-Diliman to participate in a youth forum, we travel from Binan to Sta. Cruz to participate in a political awareness symposium of Gov. ER Ejercito. I've been with him for several activities and other community based and engaging ventures. I learned a lot and i appreciate it. That the professor, I'm really afraid of, is a professor that never afraid to share, never afraid to inspire and never fail to motivate his students.

Sir Benjo strongly supports the importance of Education, making learning a fun and engaging avenue for us students. He opened my eyes from many opportunities and learning tools, and let me realized that grades is not the basis of your intelligence, but your perseverance to make something relevant, your purpose of learning and your purpose in life. Now, as I track my chosen field, I'm really glad that he as my professor made a huge part of what I am today.

Dr. Aldrin Antivola

My learning with him started last semester (academic year 2015-2016) and he is my current professor for several subjects. He is a dedicated business man, competent professor, a loving and caring padre de familia. In our class, he always shared his view about what he encountered as Organizational Therapist and Business efficiency adviser. I never felt left out in the corporate world because of him. Those true to life experience from the industry, gave us edge as management student and additional preparation for us graduating students.

He Studied Doctor of Education in Training and Org. Development at De La Salle University-Dasmarinas, He Took his Masters in Business Administration at Ateneo De Manila University Graduate School of Business. He took his college at Saint Louis University, Baguio City and He is a graduate of Divine Word College of Legazpi High School.

I really like the quote "Good Service makes the difference" and he, as my professor supported it with "A satisfied customer is the best business strategy of all." as an aspiring entrepreneur, i always looked forward for motivation and challenge that drives me to learn more. He always give us hint of what would be our role as Human Resource practitioner - He believes to our potentials, he knows that we as a iskolar ng bayan we do have the grit to learn more and strive more. He believes that learning shouldn't be bounded within the four corners of our classroom, you should always strive and be an enthusiast of learning. Learning should always combine with fun and amusement, we laugh and share stories of what we've gone through with our daily lives and aligned it with our topic.

Dr. Aldrin Antivola  always make sure that his students are satisfied with his way of teaching, and a student of Polytechnic University of the Philippines, i really appreciate his effort, time and ideologies. Making education accessible to anyone regardless of your Social Status.
