You should Never stop Learning, I was able to meet and get mentored by different people from different part of National Capital region even though i came from Region 4-A (Laguna). I was able to meet people from the world of Entrepreneurship, Corporate Ideologies and Business Personalities.
The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (Go Negosyo) and the US Embassy in the Philippines partner for the launch of its Youth Entrepreneurship Development Workshop (YEDW) 2015.
YEDW is a developmental three-day workshop for existing Filipino young entrepreneurs and young aspiring entrepreneurs (with actual business ideas) that will be held in Manila, Batangas, Iloilo and Zamboanga.
The four initial workshops will include training, networking, and mentorship opportunities, as well as U.S. exchange program alumni and Go Negosyo angelpreneurs who will be guest speakers and mentors.
The first day of the workshop featured talks & mentoring sessions from Dean Pax Lapid (Entrepreneurial Mindset), Mr. Calo Calimon (Marketing for Start-ups) & Ms. Tess Dimaculangan (Understanding Business Finance), Mr. Bong Jiao, and Go Negosyo Executive Director, Mr. Ramon Lopez.
Our friends from the US Embassy, Ms. Bettina Malone (Counselor for Public Affairs) and Elisabeth Liu (Cultural Affairs) joined us in welcoming the participants. The first day of the workshop ended through the fellowship night where participants get a chance to network with one another and interact with invited young entrepreneurs like Zarah Juan (Green Leaf Eco Bags), Mr. Francis Simisim (When in Manila Co-Founder), Mr. Lourd Ramos (Creations Salon), & Mr. Bryan McClelland (Bambike).
for the First Day of Workshop we are able to meet our future business colleagues and friends, the first part taught us: Why do we want to be an Entrepreneur? Why Entrepreneur? What is the potential of your business Idea?
As aspiring Entrepreneur - i realized, that the potentiality of business idea is not only about your willingness to make your idea to happen but to recognized factors that may able to affect your idea through out the way. You have to learn to be truthful, honest and mastering oneself - from ambition, belief and even to accept failure and mistakes.
Even though i was soaking wet from day one and shivering from the coldness of the venue at St. Giles Hotel, Makati City, Manila - Learning will always be my first priority, Most of my colleagues, used to have their own cars and even driven by their own personal drivers and i'm here walking under the rain. I realized while seeking for St. Giles, learning is hundred miles away and will always be - because, it is limitless, an infinite void of knowledge, if you want it - you have to strive for it.
The second day of the workshop featured talks on special entrepreneurship topics from Mr. Earl Valencia of IdeaSpace Foundation (Lessons from IdeaSpace & Pitching Your Start-up), Mr. Navin Uttamchandani, (Esquire Financing President & COO (Funding for Young Start-ups), Mr. Butz Bartolome of GMB Franchise Developers, Inc. (Franchising 101) and Dr. Paris de L’etraz of IE Business School (Comfort Zones: On Business & Life Success).
Seasoned entrepreneurs were also invited to share the story of their businesses to our participants. Present were Ms. Clang Garcia (Jeepney Tours), Ms. Stella Sy (Mint), Ms. Patsy Paterno (Papemelroti), Ms. Jill Borja (Manang’s Chicken) and Mr. Ifore Yu (Chicken Charlie).
Participants also presented their business models and mentored by Mr. Ramon Lopez (Go Negosyo Executive Director), Mr. Butz Bartolome and Dr. Paris de L’etraz.
The last of the three-day developmental workshop started with a message from USAID represented by Dr. Mario Lamberte. The participants had their chance to pitch and present their respective business models. There 2 categories for the said workshop: the existing business and business idea. Members of the panel of judges include Dr. Ed Canela, Mr. RamonLopez, Dean Pax Lapid, Ms. Tess Dimaculangan, Mr. Carlo Calimon and our friends from the US Embassy.
At the end of the workshop, 10 businesses from each category (total of 20) were named to join us in the grand workshop happening in November of this year in time with the APEC Summit.
Rachel de Villa won the P10,000 cash prize for her business idea Cropital and Flora SeƱosa won the P30,000 cash prize for her existing agri-business.
The last Day of the Workshop - The pitching Process, we are able to know our potential and what are the things to rectify with our business proposal. I was corrected and taught what to track and when to do it. Life is always reminding us about our purpose but choices aligned you to set up your self. I'm grateful to be part of the workshop and i will always be grateful for YEWD 2015.
